Tommorw is the 5th annual Pat's Run in Tempe honoring the life of Pat Tillman. I am working the event and will be there before the sun gets up. If you are in the metro Phoenix area throw on your running shoes and come out to Sun Devil Stadium by 6:30 to sign up and run!

How did that happen? I tell you, time is flying! T turned 5 months old last weekend and i had a job interview last week. The 2nd one this YEAR.
I think so far ihave done well adjusting to the life of a stay at home mom. It is getting easier for me. That may sound strange but i want to be a stay at home mom however in my mind i hear a voice saying go to work so you can pay the bills.
For those of you not covered in snow Happy Spring! For everyone else still in a parka, hold on because Spring or summer will be there eventaully!

1. My kids are finally healthy again - January was a tough month for colds
2. Although i am unemployeed and in need of a new job sooner than later i am thrilled to get to spend more time at home with Trevor.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I love this time of year and it seems to be flying by a little too fast this year. We took out the fake 9 ft tree we bought at Costco last year and discovered the metal stnad was craacked. Dad tried to fix it and we set up the tree Monday night. By the next day we noticed the tree was leaning. Not good. We talked to the warrenty people for the tree and a new stand will come in 7-10 days. Cross my fingers its by the 24th! Tonight the tree decided to fall over as the old stand couldn't hold it up anymore. Good thing we have held off on putting up the christmas decorations!

So it has been more than a month since i tried to post. I was here a few days after T was born but the post didn't save and i was too tired to retype it.

T arrived October 21st at 8:05 am. We are all doing great and its hard to beleive that he is going to be one month old tomorrow. Time is flying. E has pretty much adjusted to life as a bog brother. Some days are hard for him but he is a great little helper (when he wants to be).

Knowing that I don't have a job to return to in January (for more than a day) is starting to freak me out a little bit. Especially since there is very little out there to apply for....

Still Pregnant

Tomorrow i'll be 39 weeks. Yippie!! But my hips are telling me they would like it to be 40 weeks at the very least... I was sure that today - the date i so vividly dreamt about would be it and i'd have a new baby to cuddle this weekend but no. I was mistaken. :(

So tomorrow is my last scheduled day of work and I'm looking forward to either having a day or two to prepare at home or just to bring home a new baby next week.
Think labor thoughts for me so we can bring this little guy into the world. His big brother is beside himself wanting to meet him!

The Economy Sucks

I found out yesterday that i am one of 5 people in our 16 person office that is being laid off.

Being 16 days away from my due date i had to keep a level head yesterday because i thought the shock of it all would send me into labor!

Still pregnant and hanging in there. I wish we could afford for me to stay home but it isn't feasible and i think that sucks.

Please think good thoughts for me as i start to look for something new to start in January after a few weeks of leave at home with the new baby!

I love October. It used to signal the start of Fall, changing leaves and school time. Since i live in an area that doesn't really get all 4 seasons its not quite the same as when i was growing up. Especially today where the high temperature will be 101 degrees. Only 2 or 3 above normal for this time of year. Ick.
The only good part about October in the Southwest is that come Halloween you don't have to worry about the kids freezing in their costumes because by the end of the month i bet we will still be in the mid 80's.
In baby news it's 3 weeks or less until D day and i'm really hoping that after my check up tomorrow my Doc will tell me something wonderful like - Oh yeah this one will definitely be early...
For the sake of my back and my dear hubby having to listen to me snore recently i hope this baby is earlier than later!!!

32 Days and Counting

E's new bed and dresser have arrived and will be delivered in 2 weeks. I am so anxious to get it in the house and built (bunk beds!) so that we can turn his room back to a nursery. I am 90% ready for this new baby. I've got the dreft and the diapers just need to get E into one room so i can stock the baby room up.
It's hard to believe it is already going to be October. I feel like this year has flown by!

It's only Tuesday and I'm already wiped out! I guess that can happen when you are being kicked from the inside out non stop.

We decided on a baby name finally, which is a huge relief. We just haven't told too many people yet. 39 days and counting. I really hope this baby decides to come a few days early ;)

So as i was driving to work this morning i heard about something really cool on the radio and wanted to share.

Dave Graybill, a firefighter with the Glendale Arizona Fire Department came up with the idea for the Pink Ribbon Tour after talking with his friend and fellow firefighter Wally Monsivaiz in Las Cruces, New Mexcio.

If you go to the website you will see a map of all the cities across they are visiting with their PINK firetruck and huge ribbon statue to help raise awareness about breast cancer. Dave bought an old firetruck and had it wrapped in pink.

It is so nice to see that there are still people in this country who believe they can make a difference.

So if you see a pink fire truck roll through your town stop and say hi!

Friday we are going in for a 3D ultrasound which will be fun. We did it with E and the resemblance at birth was pretty darn close so we are excited to see number 2 hiding in there and pick out a name already.

So happy that Amy and the boys are safe after their fender bender. New baby and new car coming soon. Is there a mini van in your future?

No plastic bags in LA stores beginning 2010

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles shoppers soon won't hear the question, "Paper or plastic?" at the checkout line.

The City Council voted Tuesday to ban plastic shopping bags from stores, beginning July 1, 2010. Shoppers can either bring their own bags or pay 25 cents for a paper or biodegradable bag.

The council's unanimous vote also puts pressure on the state, which is considering an Assembly bill that would impose bag recycling requirements on stores. City officials said their ban would not be implemented if the state passes the bill and requires at least a 25-cent charge per bag.

"We've gotten to a point where we need to act as a city, where we can have real results," said Councilman Ed Reyes, who proposed the bag ban. "We're trying to do it in a way where we can educate and inform the public of what we're doing."

Reyes said the ban will minimize cleanup costs for the city and reduce trash that collects in storm drains and the Los Angeles River. The city estimates more than 2 billion plastic bags are used each year in Los Angeles. About 5 percent of plastic bags and 21 percent of paper bags are recycled in California.

Banning plastic bags will not solve the litter problem, said an attorney who opposes the regulation of plastic bags.

"We've had enough of politicians accepting the misinformation that's spread around the Internet about plastic bags," said Stephen Joseph of the Save the Plastic Bag Coalition, which represents bag manufacturers.

Joseph said the city motion gives "a free pass" to paper bags, which he argued are biodegradable but consume more materials and natural resources to make.

Three percent of the bag fee will be returned to the retailer, 3 percent will go to the state, and the rest will go back to the city to fund an education campaign.

Last year, San Francisco passed the nation's first bag ban, which took effect in November.

Happy B-day S! I hope you have a great day.

I have discovered today that maternity wear is harder to find around here than it should be. In the past 12 months 2 Motherhood Maternity stores in my area closed. Not a big deal because a new super store of sorts with MM and A Pea in the Pod opened kind of in my area.
But this week on my lunch break from work i stopped at a Macy's and a Mervyn's and both stores said they stopped carrying maternity. ??
So needless to say i'm frustrated because aside from a very small section at the local target and the place kind of close to home there aren't a lot of options.

This is probably a blessing in disguise as i don't WANT to buy any more maternity clothes since i don't plan on being pg again, i have already outgrown most pants i wore to the end of my pregnancy with Eric.

can't wait for the Fall!

Things are pretty calm at the moment so i apologize for the lack of posts.

I was going to vent about gas prices but Amy did a great job of that for me a few days ago. I just keeping thinking back about 12 years ago in college when gas was 99 cents a gallon and you weren't allowed to pump it - by law.
Can we go back to at least that price? It cost me $51 dollars to fill up last night. Ouch.

The next few weeks will be busy with some weekend home improvement projects. We painted the laundry room last weekend and will be hanging some cabinets soon. Plus we get new carpet in 2 weekends for the living room. Yippee.

A friend of mine said it was the last real surprise in life. True but i'd rather give it a name. And buy appropriate cute clothes.

We went to see Indiana Jones last week. It was good. Not the greatest but good. George Lucas summed it up best in an interview - "we made a B movie in an A style"
That is so true and how they made the other 3 movies.

Ok so first there was an entry associated with the post title below. Not sure where it went. I was probably griping about my lack of caffeine. Since i can't remember never mind.

It has been a very busy few weeks, hence the lack of posts here. We went to Disneyland for 5 whole days. Which at first seemed like too much time at the magic kingdom but worked out well. It is the first time i've ever been with a child and it was fun because he was having so much fun.

Then on the day we headed home i got sick with a sinus/respiratory infection that put a damper on my next whole week. Then the whole family gets sick and next thing you know - the laundry has piled up and people are looking for a shirt they wore on vacation and wondering why it hasn't been washed in 2 weeks. We will disregard that comment and move on.

Nothing else exciting it going on to report. Today is my parents 36th wedding anniversary - too bad Hallmark doesn't make cards that say - Happy Anniversary. Congratulations for not divorcing, setting fire to the house or killing each other in the last __ years.
That would be more appropriate than the lovey dovey cards i was sifting through yesterday.

While i haven't decided who gets my vote in the Fall as i am still waiting for Obama and Clinton to duke it out to the finish, i find Meghan's 23 year old view point of the campaign trial fun and enjoy her music playlists.

Oh how does your garden grow

Spring is here in my part of the country and for those of you glaring at the hard snow covered ground and hoping you can melt the ice with your spring thoughts I am sending warm wishes your way.

I haven't done much in my yard this spring. About a month ago we had a weeding party and three of us cleared the yard of all the pesky weeds. THEN IT RAINED. And within a week they were all back. Hello? I pulled them all out down to the roots and after one good rain - poof - it was as though we hadn't touched the yard in a year.

E thinks pulling weeds is a fun game. Hopes those feelings remain in about 12 years when it will be his turn!

I have tried for several years to grow strawberries and tomatoes and both don't like me. The strawberries never seem to mature or taste good, even though i give them fresh good soil to grow in and the tomatoes took on a life of their own and just turned into a giant 8 foot bush.

Our only fruiting plant this year is our lemon tree. We planted it a few years ago and it is finally blooming. I am crossing my fingers that we will have fresh lemons this summer!!

My mom has the greatest yard that always looks so perfect. And i know the reason that my yard doesn't look that good is she tends to it everyday. Everyday. That's a commitment i just can't make. Maybe in a few decades when the babes are out of the house.

Ok. enough about the garden. To those of you with greener thumbs than I - have a great spring.

April is literally just around the corner! Which means its Earth Day time again.

And in the last 9 months i have been tickled "green" by all the GREEN talk in the news and main stream media. My inner hippie is jumping for joy! Must be all those years in Eugene and near Berkeley. Even better is that the media has already exclaimed that the topic is over done - but we want more - so they oblige.

San Francisco Magazine had a great cover story in February called Green with Worry. My favorite line was something about having slips of paper in a pocket and holding onto them until you could find a recycle bin. I will admit to having that happen before!

I like the fact that i can fill my recycle bin to the top each week but can't claim the same for the trash. Maybe this is all a little too little too late. I have to think positive and hope there are enough of us out there doing good to offset all the bad...

I read Dooce a few times a week. Mostly because Heather Armstrong says funny things that make me try my hardest not to spit out my morning coffee as i laugh.

Sometimes though she eloquently writes about the tough things in life we don't want to talk about and i commend her for doing it so well. Things like depression, medication, miscarriage, you name it.

I wanted to link all of you to this post in particular because more often than not we have friends and family that could use some help via medication but don't think they should ask for that help...

And i love her dog chuck. What a ham :)

Yesterday added another digit to that thing we call age. I certainly don't feel any different but the weight of the ones i love getting older does close in on me.
I think i'm starting to fear having to think of death.
Natual i'm sure as our grandparents and parents age.
But diffucult to comprehend as those my age pass on or even the younger ones.
It makes me sad :(

This happens to be one of my favorite months of the year.
Various birthdays to celebrate and the fresh cut grass memories of summer.

Life gets busy and then before you know it half the year has passed us by.

This may drive some people crazy but i'm going to start posting random recycling facts and links here that i find interesting. I don't know if it's the oversatuation of "green" in the media today or the 07/07/07 Live concert last month but the health of our environment has really (i hope) started to get peoples attention.

As we get into the politaical swing of things as candidates are narrowed down i'm curious to see if its the same old song or dance or are we lucky enough to have someone out there in the field that will act on what he or she is promising.

I hope i live to see the day when universal healthcare of some form and the environment is put ahead of money, money, money and the big companies profits.

Al Gore

I don't kow a whole lot about Al Gore but i find it interesting that of late he seems to be the celebrity earth champion. Maybe it was his apperance on this Oscars with Leo but he seems to be everywhere. I haven't seen his movie. i'd like to but haven't found the time yet. And part of me is a little nervous to watch it. I don't want to really know how bad it is.
Someone on tv last night said that a problem as big as global warming and saving the environment can't be done by groups or individuals. It has to be solved by government because it is so big of a problem.
I partly agree.
If the government did more to incent businesses and states to be more environmentally friendly it would make a huge difference. Instead they want to drill oil fields in the pristine wilderness of Alaska. And don't get me started on this Skywalk thing a tribe in AZ built at the Grand Canyon. Sounds cool but ....

And i am so excited about it. We are so technically advanced as a society - can't someone make a biodegradalbe plastic bag? What rubbed me the wrong way was a cable news talk show host calling SF idiodic for instituting such a ban. Hello do some homework and find out how many millions of plastic bags are in the land fills and ocean!!!
So back to Al Gore. Not that he's running for president (yet) but wouldn't it be nice to have a friend of the enviorment in the white house?

trying to not use plastic bags at the grocery store.
replacing my old light bulbs with the swirlly environmentally friendly ones.
trying to recycle everything i possibly can (but frustrated by what the city allows me to recycle)
think of more ways to make a difference.

It's friday - thank goodness. Weather here is great. BB (baby boy) is doing good and hubby is almost over a cold so we'll hope for an eventless weekend.
I can't beleive it is April on Sunday. Where did the first quarter if this year go. I'm still trying to get thank yous from Christmas mailed out!
Since i went full time March 1 here at work i've felt a little crazed. Mostly that i don't have time to get anything done at home before i'm ready to pass out.
The other night BB and I fell asleep on the couch together and i woke up at 12:30 dazed and wondering why on earth am i on the couch with the tv on!

Sorry for the Delay

I feel as though time is working against me.
Case in point - i am still trying to write thank you cards from Christmas! (Thanks for the reminder S that i needed to update. I do it in my mind but it doesn't always make it online.)

It has been a busy few weeks. I reported for Jury Duty last week which was better than i expected. It has been many years since i last had to go and this was a piece of cake. We didn't get selected though and got to leave early.

Things at home are good. The little man is starting to really talk now which is so much fun. He's very clingy though which i love...99% of the time. He loves to give hugs and when he does he pats you on the back which tickles me for some reason. He also loves to say hi to absolutly everyone when we are out shopping.

The biggest change for us happens this week when i go back to work full time. I have mixed emotions about the whole thing. Since baby cakes was born i've had a mixed schedule. At first i was back 2 days a week and then 3 days and then last March when i changed companies i went back to 5 days a week but i left my house at 9 and was back by 4. Now i'll be working 45 hours or more a week. The good part of this is that hubby is going to come home by 4pm everyday and be able to spend more time with little man. And now that he's 19 months and getting older by the minute he needs more daddy time.
I think we are going to sign him up for swim lessons together in the afternoons once a week so that will be fun.
I worry about granny not being able to keep up with him as he gets older but she says she's fine so we will see.

What makes me sad is the thought that we may not have another one. And that makes me more sad that he won't have a sibling more than anything else. We'll see.

No Resolution Thanks

No New Year's Resolutions this year thanks. At least not one's that i'm labeling that way.
The biggest one always is - get organized - i used to be organized and then during one of my many college days moves something went haywire and i lost all control over my stuff. Get married and have a kid and now we are way gone.
I find myself watching Clean Sweep, Neat and Mission Organization because they may have a good tip here and there but most of the time it just makes me feel better that someone has a bigger mess in thier room/house than me. Is that wrong?
My Granny made a good point yesterday though - how many people live in magazine clean like homes? I know a few but come on they are in the minority right. Most people where both spouses work and either have kids or maybe don't - their houses aren't immacualte all the time are they?
I'm getting a mini makeover in the laundry room soon and i'm very excited you to have more storage space.
Ok enough about all this. The question regarding a trip East... i'm hoping maybe this summer. You gals tell me when is a good time and let's make a plan! I haven't seen you both in way too long!!! Most liekly it will be just me and baby. G may come but depends how long the trip is.

Well we made it back from CA in one piece! It was a quick trip but great to see all the in-laws and especially T&W who took us to FairyLand in Oakland. Baby did great and had lots of fun with his cousins.
I go through this at the start of every year but i can't beleive it's 2007. Just look at that number! Yikes. I haven't made any resolutions yet but it's still the first week so there's time.

This is just a quick note to say hello and Merry Christmas. I'm am trying to get ourselves organized for the holiday and if baby would stop pulling the bows off everything it would be a little easier. Definelty glad we opted to not do a big real tree this year.

December makes me think of snow but i haven't lived anywhere near snow since College. And even then i think it snowed like 6 times in 4 years.
We are getting ready for a short trip for the holidays and while it is a breeze compared to the big trip S is taking i'm not mentally ready for it. Maybe because it's the first time (i think ever) where i haven't been with my family for the holiday. Should be interesting.
My brother spent the weekend in jail as part of his DUI. Not fun. ever.

I hope everyone is staying warm wherever you are and i'll talk to you soon.
Oh and p.s. i may be on a travel channel tv show this weekend. Something we taped last year in december at my old job....i'll keep you posted ;)

Last Day of November

It's already going to be December tomorrow. How did that sneak up on us? I wasn't ready for it to be Thanksgivng (and M's 30th!) and i feel like tomorrow will be Christmas. Yikes!

The weather here also is trying to tell me its winter. Last week we had high 70's / Low 80's for Turkey Day and now it's in the 30's - 50's. freaky winter weather. Makes me wish we still had a fireplace.

Ok so i'm trying this blog thing one more time. I was all excited about my last blog until they tried to charge me for it so let's hope this one stays free.

I've been thinking of a lot of things i'd like to post the past few weeks and now that i have an outlet i can't think of any of them.

So check back every now and again and i'll try to say something worthwhile ;)
